As a teenager, shopping the designer section at Oakland Crossroads was my introduction to the world of fashion. As I got older and honed my personal style, I never stopped sourcing my clothes through resale platforms and vintage stores.

I could tell you that the reason I shop secondhand is because it’s more sustainable or that it saves money. But at the heart of it, I believe shopping secondhand trains the eye to recognize beauty in the mundane and develop a robust creative vision, in a way buying retail does not.

The Molehill is where I share thoughtful fashion reflections, product recs, creme de la creme secondhand listings, you get the gist. But you’ll also get to know me. And I hope I get to know you.

Oh, and my IG is @vivthemole if you’d like to follow me there.

Most of my posts have free previews with full access reserved for paid subscribers.

As a fashion writer and consultant, I love that I’m able to write independently on Substack: cover the topics I want and highlight smaller designers I’m passionate about.

I get it, hitting the paywall is annoying. Your paid subscription makes it possible for me to dedicate the time and labor spent on this newsletter, and I am so appreciative of your support! If you love my writing but cannot afford the subscription, send me an email and we can figure something out.
